Henry (Hank) A. Briggs, 72, 311 St. Nicholas, passed away Sunday, July 24, 1988, at Midland Hospital Center.
He was born July 4, 1916 in Midland, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Waltz) Briggs. He was employed by the Austin Company in a supervisory capacity for 37 years. During that time he and his wife traveled to job sites in Minnesota, California, New Jersey, Canada, Illinois, Kansas and N. Carolina. Mr. Briggs retired April 4, 1979.
He was member of the Elks Lodge No. 1970, of Terre Haute, Ind. for the past 11 years.
He married the former Dorothy Campbell in Mount Pleasant on September 28, 19400.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy; two sons and daughters--in-law, Patrick and Dawn of Merrill, Henry and Sandra, of Eaton Rapids. Two brothers, Richard of Farwell an Robert of Midland. Two sisters, Marie Williams of midland and Mary Piegols of Midland. Three grandchildren, Patrick II, Brian and Amanda. He was predeceased by an infant son John. Two brothers Charles and Henry and by one sister Lillian (Babe) Porath.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thurs. July 28, 1988, from the Ware-Smith-Woolever and Co. Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler. Rev. Father Hirsch will officiate. Burial will be in the Midland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wed. and on Thurs. from 9 a.m. until time of service. The family will be present from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Tuesday and 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Wed.
A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Wed. at 8 p.m.
Memorials are available for the Michigan Heart Assoc. or the American Cancer Society. Midland Daily News dated 7-25/1988.
