I would like to make a correction for my gr. gr. grandfather, Nathan Hetler. His birth name was Nathaniel Hetler but he always went by Nathan.

He was born 14 Feb. 1810 in Mifflinville, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania which became Columbia County in 1813. Baptized 3 March .1810, parents listed as Johannes Hettler and Maria (Anna Maria Henninger). Godparents Conrad Herman and Susanna Helmmiren. "Natan" Hetler confirmation May 25, 1828 St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Salem Twp., Luzerne Co., PA. He was the 12 child of 13 that Johannes and Anna Maria had. They are buried in Mifflinville cemetery, Columbia Co., PA. His cemetery marker is in German and last name spelled Hettler. On Anna Maria's marker was spelled Hetler with just one t.

Thank you.

Arrived in Dixon "July 13, 1837" with a two horse wagon and 75 cents in his pocket. From Lee Go. Gen. Society biography. "Hiram Hetler born July 19, 1838 in Columbia Co., Penn."

Tuesday, May 15, 1951, page 7, Dixon Evening Telegraph Double Housing. A house Within A House was revealed Saturday when workmen demolished this house at the corner of Monroe street and 601 First Street, near downtown Dixon and found a small stone building within the frame-work. The house, the old Hetler residence, is being demolished along with a neighboring building to provide a parking lot for employes of the Public Service company. "Nicor". The stone house, which can be seen in the left hand corner of the building, is estimated at being more than 100 years old. It appears that the frame building had been built around the building about 20 years after the stone building was erected. There was a Land purchase. 38.72 acres 14 Dec 1840, East of Dixon There was a picture in the newspaper of the house being demolished but too dark to copy off.
"The Year Without A Summer".
In 1813 Nathan was 3 years old, and living in New England around the time huge climate changes caused the region to remain frozen for most of a year. 1800 people froze to death.
James Madison was President of the United States in 1810, the year Nathan Hetler was born.
