Garland "Coke" Bethel, 77, of New Florence, died Wednesday, January 16, 1991, at Gamma Road Nursing Center in Wellsvelle.
He was a retired Bennett Springs State Park ranger and served one term, 1964-68, as Montgomery County sheriff.
Mr. Bethel was born at New Florence on March 31, 1913, to Noah C. and Mabel See Bethel. He was married in Oceola, MO on November 27, 1937 to Helen Jackson, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter Vesta Pearl Bethel of St. Louis; a son, William D. Bethel, Springfield, two brothers, Richard Bethel of New florence and Donald Bethel of Mexico and a sister, Naomi English of Perry.
