David Henry Walker was born on December 27, 1808, in Lincoln County, Kentucky, his father, Jesse Walker, was 34 and his mother, Mary "Polly" Wallace Walker, was 30. He married Elizabeth Emily Givens Thomas on March 9, 1841, in Carrollton, Missouri. He died on December 5, 1865, in Lincoln County, Kentucky, at the age of 56, and was buried there in the Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
