In 1861 Mary and her family moved to Texas. The following is from her daughter Andrew Jane Rasberry Griffin's obituary. "....came to Dallas seventy-three years ago when it was nothing but a village and made her home here ever since.... A native of Mississippi, Mrs. Griffin was brought to Dallas by her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Madison Puckett."

Mary and Robert had six known children, John L. Puckett (1856), Alice E. (Alcott) (1858), Jennie Puckett (1860), Georgia (1862), Andora (Andrew) Jane (Griffin) (1865) and Robert Y. (1867) Puckett.

Mary died before 1880. Robert was listed in the 1880 Dallas Co., Dallas, TX Census as a widower. He was listed in the household of his son-in-law and daughter, John and Alice E. Puckett Alcott.
