Services for Jalmer "Adolph" Somppi, 75, a lifelong Painesville resident, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville.
He died July 12, 1997, at the Cleveland Clinic.
Born Aug. 11, 1921, in Concord Township, he was a foreman pipe fitter for the Diamond Shamrock in Painesville, retiring in 1976 at the closing of the plant.
A World War II Army veteran, he served in Europe.
Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Matilda "Tudy" (Brisbin); daughters, Delores (Wayne) Milstead of Middleway, W. Va., Judy (Larry) Orient of Leroy and Diana (Darryl) of Concord; grandchildren, Venessa Griffin, Nathan Griffin, Kerri (Robert) Klein, Tyler Caldwell, Greg (Amy) Dunlap, Lonna Orient and Tobin Orient; two great-grandchildren, and twin sister, Lila "Mike" (Felix) Hine of Leroy.
His sisters, Ann Radcliff, Ellen Pomeroy and Hilda Somppi; and parents, Frederick and Susan Somppi, are deceased.
