From the 2/26/1897 Van Wert, Ohio, Twice-A-Week Bulletin: "The four-year-old son of Wm. Boroff died, yesterday morning, of diphtheria. This is the third death in this family in as many months. The funeral will be held at the home on West Crawford street, Saturday afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock."

From the 3/02/1897 Van Wert, Ohio, Twice-A-Week Bulletin: "To Whom it May Concern: This is to certify that Charles Boroff did not die from diphtheria, direct, but from paralysis, as a result of diphtheria. The child had recovered from the disease four weeks. (Signed) S.S. Tuttle, M.D."

From the 5 Mar 1897 Van Wert, Ohio, Times: "Charles Boroff died last Friday of paralysis, as a result of diphtheria, at the parents home near South Shannon street. This is the third child in that afflicted family to succumb to the terrible disease."
