From the 11/27/1896 Van Wert, Ohio, Twice-A-Week Bulletin: "The funeral of Miss Lewie Boroff was held Wednesday, at her late home, on West Crawford street."

From the 12/11/1896 Van Wert, Ohio, Twice-A-Week Bulletin: "Lucinda Boroff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Boroff, was born Nov. 9, 1878 and died at her home, in Van Wert, O., of typhoid fever, Nov. 23, 1896, aged 18 yrs., 14 days. Her life, which, until recently, was spent in Convoy, O., was one of exemplary habits and conduct. While yet very young she expressed a desire to be a follower of Jesus, and acting upon this inclination was one of the utmost importance to her, impressed everyone with whom she associated. To her it meant that she had consecrated her life to God and doing his will was her first desire. This was beautifully manifested in her life and characterized her conduct wherever she might be seen, in her home, on the street, with her classmates or in the school-room, whereby her quiet and unassuming manner and loyalty to her teachers and classmates, she won a place in the hearts of all. Though her school years were broken that she, through her generosity, might be the means of helping in the home, where her cheerfulness of spirit, willingness in humble duties and a loyalty to her home and friends were manifested. Yet her ambition never languished. After being deprived the privilege of mingling with her classmates the last year, she continued her reading and study and her choice of literature betrayed a depth of thought and a striving after that which showed her mind thoroughly imbued with the best and purest. As she sought to live so she has been welcomed to her Father's home and left by her life a source of inspiration to us. Though she was not permitted to remain with her class to enter High School, God has seen in her service a devotion and loyalty that merited a more fitting environment and her true development and has removed her to His Great High School where she forms the beginning of her class in the eternal home and by her goodness, and purity and readiness to those remaining, yet speaketh, "Be Ye Therefore Also Ready."
