Betty Claire Crocker was born on August 18, 1938 in Wing River Township the daughter of Floyd and Evelyn (Billington) Johnson. , Betty grew up on a farm the oldest of 8 children. She grew up near Wadena and attended Wadena County District 14 and then Wadena High School where she graduated in 1956. She was united in marriage to James L. Crocker on Feb. 7, 1959 in Blue Grass, MN. Even later in life she felt responsible for keeping in touch and ensuring that her siblings were taken care of. She was married to Jim for 54 years raised three children, Scott, Terry and Sandy. She enjoyed camping every summer together on Camper's Paradise on Lake Belle Taine. Betty and Jim enjoyed travelling, including a trip to Alaska to celebrate their 50th anniversary, seeing Europe and most recently visiting relatives in Iowa and Texas. Perhaps her favorite role was that of grandmother to Taylor, Brittany, Heather, Katelyn, Eric, Jordan, Marie and Destiny. Betty enjoyed having the grandchildren spend special time that included pontoon rides and campfires at the lake. Among her favorite hobbies was photography that was centered on preserving old pictures of relatives and ancestors and capturing pictures of her children and grandchildren for future memories. She prepared special albums for each of the children and grandchildren for their graduations and displayed photographs of family throughout the house. She became an avid football fan; Stanford and the Vikings her favorite teams and would talk to grandson Jordan each week to decide which teams would win their games. Betty loved Christmas time and enjoyed sending and receiving Christmas Cards and decorating the home (remembering everyone's favorite decorations) for the holidays. Most of all she loved having the family together and making the time special for all. We remember and cherish the memory of her kindness, self-less ness and love for us.
