Elnora Genieva Hussong Watson, age 95, a resident of Frontenac KS formerly of Girard, Galena, and Independence, KS passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at her home following a long illness.
Elnora was born October 19, 1918 in Joplin MO to Charlie and Ethel (James)(sic) [Jones] Hussong.
She worked 37 years at Safeway Baking Company, Joplin, MO and served 4 years as a volunteer at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home, Independence, KS.
She loved people especially children. She served 10 years as a nursery care giver at First Baptist Church, Galena, and 11 years at Highland Park Baptist Church, Independence, KS.
Elnora was married to Ernest Howard "Brud" Watson in 1934 in Galena, KS. He preceded her in death in 1961.
She enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for others. She was a Christian a woman of prayer who dearly loved her family.
She was a member of Mt Olive Baptist Church, Girard, KS.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law and caregiver, Barbara Watson of Frontenac, KS; two grandsons, David Watson and wife Melody of Independence, KS and Stephen Watson of Frontenac, KS; one great grandson, Jordan Watson, Andover KS; two step-grandchildren, Harmony Irwin and Derek Kinzey, 3 step great great grandchildren; and one half sister, Betty Cravens, Baxter Springs KS.
Elnora's son, Earney Watson as pastor of Mt Olive Baptist Church Girard went home to be with Jesus on September 1st of this year.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister and one-half sister.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, December 13, 2013 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Pastor Paul Mooney and Pastor Marvin Boore will officiate.
Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Galena, KS.
