Mrs. F. S. Smith, Amanda Wells, was born in Andalusia, Illinois, June 15, 1867 a daughter of Rinnah and Hannah Wells. She came to Nevada as a bride July 1, 1890 and had been a resident of Nevada for 65 years. She died at the Story County Hospital Friday, February 11, 1955.

She was a member of the Methodist Church a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Legion Auxiliary and the Sorosis club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. F. S. Smith who died in 1943.

Surviving are the daughter Mrs. Ella McConnell of Nevada and son, Dr. Donald Smith of St. Anthony, Idaho and three step children, Mrs. J. K. Weaver of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Roy W. Smith of Brownsville, Texas, Mrs. Alta W. Boyd of Kirkland, Washington. She also leaves three grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Among those from out of town in attendance at the last rites were the following form Napier: Mr. and Mrs. John Safly, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. John Safly, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Safly, Mrs. Ernie Swanson, Mrs. Dial Brown, Mrs. La Vern Hand and Mrs. Roy Ostring.
