Michael Lee Jacobs Sr., 61, of West Bend, was called home on Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, surrounded by his family at home.

He was born in Muncie, Ind. on Jan. 5, 1944 to the late Darrell and Mary (nee Cox) Jacobs. When he was 18 years old he moved with his family to Crandon, Wis. where he became a volunteer fireman during the early ‘60s.

Mike later moved to West Bend and began working for the Gehl Co. He has been with the company for the past 39 years. He also worked at the West Bend Movie Theater for 17 years just after he moved to West Bend.

Mike married Mary Weber on Oct. 14, 1967. He was actively involved with the American Red Cross for over 30 years, and was also a member of the Moose Lodge for the past 15 years.

Faith played a big part in Mike's life. He was a member of Still Waters Community United Methodist Church.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his four children, Susan (Erik) Johnson of West Bend, Michelle (David) Tahtinen of Bergland, Mich., Amy Jacobs of West Bend and Michael Jacobs Jr. (special friend Erin Backhaus) of West Bend; nine grandchildren, Tom, Sarah, Megan Johnson of West Bend, David, Ryan and Angela Tahtinen of Bergland Mich., Heather Jacobs of West Bend, Dylan Amundson of West Bend and Hunter Arndt of West Bend; a sister Judith (John) Hutchinson of Sun Prairie; three brothers, Lyle (Juanelle) Jacobs of Beaver Creak, Ohio, Donald (Caroline) Jacobs of Lancaster, Calif., and Willus (Mary Jo) Jacobs of Ft. Myers, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Hellen Nixon, and Sharon (Gordon) Gerald both of Crandon; three brothers-in-law, Tom (Kathi) Weber of West Allis, Michael (Sally) Weber of Crandon and Daniel (Julie) Weber of Crandon; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.

A funeral service in honor of Mike will be held on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service of West Bend, 334-2776.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon until the time of service.

Memorials to the American Red Cross or to Still Waters Community United Methodist Church Memorial Garden would be greatly appreciated.
