Evelyn Burden McGowen
Evelyn Burden McGowen, 91, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at her residence in Sarasota, Fla. She was a former resident of Portage.
She was born March 8, 1912, in Rensselaer. Her parents were John and Myrtle (Hess) Burris. She married Welcome McGowan on June 4, 1932, in Plymouth. He preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons, Bob McGowan of Mountain
Home, Ark., Keith Burden of Portage and Leroy Burden of Valparaiso; a daughter, Sharon Rollins of Sarasota, Fla.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was employed by Goldblatts as a waitress.
The Rev. Mark Overmyer will conduct a service at 10 a.m. today at Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave. in Portage. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
