JAMES H. COX DIED AT HOME NEAR NEWARK
James H. Cox, for many years a respected resident of the Newark community, died at his home near that place Saturday evening at 5:30. He had been ill for about three years with a complication of diseases.
He was born in Indianapolis, Ind., Aug. 27, 1851, and came to Missouri at an early age. On March 30, 1876, he married to Miss Rebecca M. Plunkett, who, with the six children survive. The childre are Mrs. Stella McSorley and James E. of Newark, Mrs. Lena Kidwell of Santa Clara, Calif., William S. of Quincy, John I. (Ray) of Elgin and Mrs. Ilga Fay McSorley of Enders, Nebraska.
He had been a member of the Shiloh Baptist church for a great many years and was also a member of the I.O.O.F. Order, which was in charge of the services at the grave.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wilkinson of LaGrange at the Newark Baptist church Monday at 2 o'clock. Burial in the I.O.O.F. cemetery there.
