From the "Stillwater News-Press" newspaper, Stillwater, OK, Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1976, page 2, columns 1 and 2--
"Flossie Sears Rites Scheduled on Friday
Mrs. Flossie Sears, who made the run into the Stillwater area as a three-year-old, died Sept. 7, 1976, in Westhaven Nursing Home. She was 89.
Graveside rites will be in Fairlawn Cemetery at 10 a.m. Friday. Dr. Larry E. Whitley, pastor of First Christian Church, of which she was a long-time member, will officiate. Reavis Funeral home is in charge.
Friends may call at the funeral home until 9 a.m. Friday.
She was born Oct. 7, 1886 at Burden, Kan., the daughter of Michael and Rachel Ruth Hollowell Stockwell. She came with her family to Oklahoma in 1889, and they homesteaded a farm two miles east and one and a half miles north of Stillwater.
She was married to W.F. "Bill" Sears, at Stillwater, in 1906. He preceded her in death in August, 1952.
She was formerly a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Vic, in June 1963; four brothers and five sisters.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Vivian Howles, 2014 W. Fifth; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren."
