She was born October 23, 1925 in Coal City. Dorothy was the daughter of the late John and Katherine 'Kate' Marie (Darin) Baudino. She was raised in Coal City and graduated with the Coal City High School Class of 1943.
On April 15, 1951, Dorothy married John Edward Welch, and he preceded her on October 18, 1978. She retired from Uniroyal after 26 years of service.
Dorothy was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Coal City and the Coal City Seniors.
She enjoyed playing cards and reading. Dorothy took pleasure in watching the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Bears, but will most be remembered as a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.
She was the center of the family activities, and her greatest love was her family. Dorothy truly cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Mike (Sherrie) Welch of Bloomingdale; two daughters, Lynda (Dale) Christensen and Teri "Boo" (Dave) Franciskovich of Coal City; grandchildren Todd (Megan) Welch, Mackenzie (Pasquale) Gapastione, Bryan (Tracy) Perino, Becky (Nick) Barrett, Nicole (Jay) Lusson, Eric (Briana) Franciskovich, Kris (John) Zebell, Susan (Joe) Christensen and Joe Christensen; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Jack (Marijayne) Baudino; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law LaVerne Baudino, Steve and Jane Welch, Roni and Jerry Muhich and Josephine Welch; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband John (1978), grandson David Christensen, great grandson Gavin Ulivi, brother Peter Baudino and sister Connie Frye.

Funeral services: Thursday, December 5, 2013, 10:00 a.m. in Assumption Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street, Coal City with Reverend Ed Howe.
Pallbearers will be: Bryan Perino, Todd Welch, Eric Franciskovich, Nick Barrett, Jay Lusson, Pasquale Gapastione and Kain Ulivi. Honorary pallbearers will be: Becky Barrett, Nicole Lusson, Mackenzie Gapastione, Kris Zebell and Susan Christensen.
