Funeral service for John Mason Allen, 93, of Somerville, will be Monday, December 2, 2013 at Center Springs Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with Gary Dobbs officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Allen died Saturday, November 30, 2013. He was born March 13, 1920 in Somerville, to Stephenson Eli Allen and Ora Lee Breeding Allen. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Janet Johnson Allen, three brothers and six sisters. He was retired from Monsanto. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a lifetime member of Center Springs United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Center Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Center Springs Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Allen (Debbie) and Ricky Allen (Charlotte); two daughters, Gail Turney (Royce) and Donna Nelson (Bill), all of Somerville; one sister, Eloise Maples (Robert), also of Somerville; six grandchildren, Terry Johnson, Forrest Johnson, Jonathon Fairbanks, Wendy Fentress, Tracy Sparks and Angie Voss; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bob Allen, Ben Allen, Terry Johnson, Forrest Johnson, Jonathon Fairbanks, Harvey Kirby and Ferrell Maples.
Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Samantha Franklin of AlaCare Hospice.
