Earl Fortenberry of Oneonta, Alabama passed away on November 27, 2013. Mr. Fortenberry started work with the Oneonta Police Department on November 3, 1958 and later became the Chief of Police on May 9, 1968. He served 18 years as Chief before retiring on March 20, 1986. He was a member of the Oneonta Masonic Lodge #324 and enjoyed singing and playing bluegrass music. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 2PM from the Chapel of Lemley Funeral Home with burial following at Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Fortenberry will lie in state at Lemley Funeral Home on Sunday from 12 Noon until service time.
