Horace Boyd, 96, of Turlock, passed away at Brandel Manor. He was born in Paola, Kansas to George and Carrye Boyd, the oldest of 8 children. He attended school in Kansas and met and married the love of his life, Marie Blanche Austin, in 1935. In the late 1930s they moved to Los Angeles where Horace worked as a laborer for Irvine Ranch. He began loading oranges in boxcars and worked his way up to become an apprentice electrician. He worked as an electrician for Douglas Aircraft for 38 years. His job included working on the Skylab in the 1960s. He retired in 1978.

Horace was a generous, hard-working man. He was always helping his family and friends with tasks. A soft-spoken man, he will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.

Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by four siblings: Edna Best, Martha Belt, Robert Boyd, and Hazel Austin. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Marie Austin Boyd, son Robert Boyd; one grandson; two great grand-children; three sisters: Jessie Stone, Margaret Braden and Francis Whitney; two step-grand children and two step great-grand children.

A private graveside will be held at Turlock Memorial Park.
