Mary Frances Whitney, age 87, of Louisburg, KS died April 5, 2013 at Louisburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Mary Frances was born July 2, 1925 in Chiles, KS, the daughter of George and Carrie (Sunley) Boyd. Mary Frances was married to Wallace Whitney in Spring Hill, KS on March 20, 1944. To this union three sons were born.

Wallace and Mary Frances lived in several area residences before settling in Louisburg in 1949. Wallace also had many jobs while Mary Frances settled in taking care of the family and being a homemaker. Mary Frances was a certified technician in orthotics who assisted Wallace in his private practice in Louisburg.

Mary Frances was involved with the Louisburg United Methodist Church being the teacher of the Willing Workers Adult Women's class for many years. Mary Frances was also involved with the Louisburg Library. She was one of two local women who wrote the original draft for the Louisburg Library Charter. "Be not be burdened with times of sorrow. My life's been full, I savored much; good friends, good times, a loved one's touch."

Her favorite pastimes include traveling and being an avid supporter of the Kansas City Royals. She was a loving and giving wife and mother who, in her own way, did many good deeds during her life. Mary Frances will be greatly missed by her sons and many others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Horace and Robert; three sisters, Hazel, Edna and Martha; her husband, Wallace H. Whitney, on May 12, 2009 and her oldest son, Wallace H. Whitney, Jr. on February 11, 2009.

Survivors include two sons, one of, Kansas City, MO and one of, Paola, KS; and two sisters, one of, Louisburg, KS and one of, Kansas City, MO.

The family suggests contributions to the Louisburg United Methodist Church or Louisburg Library.
