Galen Groah Bowman, 65, of Grottoes, died on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at the Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville.

Mr. Bowman was born on February 26, 1940 in Port Republic, VA, and was the son of the late John Harry Bowman and Kathleen Pearl Bowman.

On April 7, 1962, he was married to Patricia T. Bowman, of Grottoes, who survives.

He is also survived by two daughters and their spouses, Gail Bowman Heiston and "Bubby" of Elkton and Lori Bowman Gravely and M.C. of McGaheysville; four grandchildren, Michael Heiston, Beth Heiston, Collin Gravely and Cade Gravely; two brothers William Bowman of McGaheysville and Joseph Bowman of Port Republic; one sister, Betty Winegard of Grottoes; and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Bowman, George Bowman and Johnny Bowman.

Mr. Bowman owned and operated Bowman's Appliance Sales and Service. Previously he worked for LeFebure for 22 years and with Reynolds Metals for 7 1/2 years.

The graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 20, 2005 at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.

A memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM at Summit Church of the Brethren near Bridgewater with Pastor Steve Spire officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM on Saturday at the Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Summit Church of the Brethren, or the Grottoes Rescue Squad.
