Memorial funeral services for Marvin L. Amos, age 74, of Broken Bow, were Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at 3 p.m., at the Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent with the Rev. Marvin Bauer officiating. Inurnment was in the Dry Valley Cemetery south of Sargent. Rhoad Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Marvin was born Jan. 9, 1939, to Otto and Florence Edna (Oliver) Amos near Comstock. Marvin grew up in the Dry Valley area where his family farmed. He attended the one room school in Dry Valley and continued his education in Sargent Public Schools.
Marvin worked construction including street construction and the Comstock Bridge. He also worked for Custer County Department of Roads.
Marvin worked several years for Midstate Co-op in Sargent and later in Anselmo. After retirement, Marvin worked for Custer Heights Apartment Complex.
Marvin married Marlene Ayres of Comstock, Nov. 18, 1964. Marvin was the proud father of five children and seven grandchildren.
Marvin is survived by two brothers, Gordon Amos of Loleta, Calif., and Leonard Amos of Sargent. He leaves behind his children, Sandy (John) Delp, Bobbie (David) Summerford, Brad (Nikki) Amos, and Randy Amos; grandchildren, Danielle and Regan Delp, Carrie and Shawn Summerford, and Alex, Alyssa, and Aaron Amos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda; and brothers, Donald Spencer, Kenneth Amos, Otto Jr. Amos, Gerald (Stub) Amos.
