Venango County Pioneer Passed Away - Robert Peebles Died Saturday at the Home of His Daughter, Near Bradford

Robert Peebles died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D.E. Landers, at Foster Brook, McKean county, at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon. He was nearly 80 years of age, and was one of the pioneer residents of Venango county, where he was engaged in farming in Cherrytree township for many years.

Deceased was born in Nova Scotia and was the eldest of a family of ten children, the majority of whom have figured in the history and first settlement of this portion of the state. His father was born in Ireland in 1800, and with his wife emigrated to Nova Scotia nearly 80 years ago. After living there for a time, the family removed to Philadelphia and later west of the Alleghenies, finally settling permanently in Cherrytree township.

He is survived by the following children: Mrs. D.E. Landers, of Foster Creek, Pa,; Mrs. Archibald Mack, of Ohio; John of Bradford; James of Dakota; Robert, of Oil City; Stewart, of Cooperstown; Benjamin of Sistersville; Albert, employed as an oil well driller in Jamaica, W.__.; George, of West Virginia, and Edward, whose residence could not be learned last evening. Of his brothers and sisters, the following are living: John, of Cherrytree, J.L., of Wallaceville; Mrs. Van Sickle, of Oakdale, Allegheny county; Mrs. R.O.Carson of Neiltown, and Mrs. W.R. McIntosh, of Jamestown.

The remains will be taken to Gresham, where funeral services in his remembrance will be held fromthe Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Interment will be made in the Gresham cemetery.
