Doyle Brown, 75, a long-time resident of Lubbock died Saturday at University Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 23rd at the Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home Chapel, 4444 S. Loop 289. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 22nd at the funeral home. Doyle was born on Dec. 5, 1931, in Donley County, to the late Valdee and Mozelle Brown. He completed elementary school in Lelia and graduated from Shamrock High School. Doyle married his loving wife, Joy Lee Jordan Brown, at Ceta Canyon on April 17, 1988.
He attended McMurry University and Texas Tech University. Doyle loved his country and his community as demonstrated by his service in the United States Marine Corp from 1950 to 1960 when he received an honorable discharge as a staff sergeant. During his loyal service in the Marines, he served in the Korean War.

Doyle was owner of D&J Courier Service. In this role, he drove all over Texas and New Mexico to deliver prescriptions and special medical supplies to nursing homes and to deliver parcels and lost luggage. The clients he served welcomed his visits because of his big smile, wonderful personality and eagerness to serve even if he had driven all night. He earlier owned a custom combining business and worked in chemical and propane sales. Doyle loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. He was an active member of Oakwood Methodist Church.

Doyle is survived by his wife, Joy; sons, Keith McDonald of Palmer, Jeff and wife Carolin McDonald of The Colony , and Leonard and wife Sandra Pense of Wolfforth; sister, Patsy Douglas of Canyon ; brothers, Donnie Brown of Boy's Ranch, Jerry Brown of Amarillo, and Wendell Brown of Happy; and four grandchildren, Raelee, Jordan, Garvin and Graham McDonald.

Doyle died Saturday, April 21, 2007 surrounded by his family at the age of 75.
