She was born Dec. 2, 1939, in Pulaski County to Claude Tanger Sutphin and Ollie Hazel Cole Sutphin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie and Carl Sutphin; and a sister, Hope Sutphin Corns.
She was a member of Fairway Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Phillip Mabe of the home; two sons, Jeff Mabe of Rocky Mount and Brent Mabe of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Janie Debien of Greensboro, N.C., and Hazel Ginger Purdy of Ridgeway; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fairway Baptist Church in Bassett.
