Beans entered our lives and our hearts as a less than 6 week old stray. He was covered in fleas and dirt, his eyes were nearly crusted shut but he was a little ball of sweetness. Which is how he remained his entire life.

Beans was named that after my husband continually called him "a little fart". In the past, names that he has bestowed upon our pets have stuck...I did not want to have to go outside and call out "Fart" if I wanted our baby to come. Thus "litle fart" became Beans.

He was such a sweet kitty. When he came inside he always greeted the dogs by rubbing against their chest, he would take his paw and pat my face and if I dared to attempt to read a book he would bump on the back of the book until I raised it up so he could sleep on my chest in front of the book.

Funny as it may sound he was just as sweet with neighbors and their dogs. When anyone walking their dogs past our house he would go to the sidewalk and greet them, sometimes rubbing against that dog's chest too. Because he was so little when we got him and maybe because he was raised with dogs, I guess it never occurred to him that if they wanted those neighborhood dogs could have made him their next treat.

He was quite a "mouser" and he often brought me "presents", like the time I found a squirrel tale, just the tale mind you, in my walk-in closet or the many lizards he would catch and release. Interestingly he never tried to get to the parrots we had...maybe theirs beaks were a deterrent.
