"Mathias W. "Matt" Distler, 89, of rural Jefferson City, died today ( Jan. 3, 1978) at the Jefferson City Nursing Home. He was born Dec. 31, 1888 in Cole County, to Frank and Mary Brondel Distler. On Sept. 16, 1924, he married Mary Welch, who died May 22, 1940. Mr. Distler was a member of the St. Martins Church and the Holy Name Society. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include: one son - Martin "Mart" Distler, Jefferson City; four daughters - Mrs. Lillian Veit, 715 Country Club Dr.; Mrs. Anna Marie Brauner and Mrs. Loretta Brauner, both of California; and Mrs. Margaret Reinkemeyer, Argyle; and 22 grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited Wednesday in the Dulle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday at St. Martins Catholic church with the Rev. Brenden Doyle officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery."
