William Stuckover was born in Mattoon to Mr and Mrs. Peter Stuckover.

In 1880, William M. Stuckover was age 22 and living with his family in Mattoon, Coles, Illinois. His family consisted of his father Peter Stuckover age 47, mother Sarah Wilcox-Stuckover age 40, his maternal grandmother Rosanna Wilcox age 72, and his brothers / sisters Eviline age 17, James age 14, Rosanna age 12, John W. age 10, David age 9, Luzzie age 9, Patrick age 7, Lena age 4, and Margaret age 2

In 1887, William married Anna Lake also of Mattoon.

William was employed as a brakeman for the Big Four Railroad. While working for the railroad he had been knocked from the side and was thrown partially under the wheels of the training causing him to lose his left arm.
After losing his arm, William served as watchman at Nineteenth street for a number of years. He also worked as a watchman at Sixteenth street.

By 1900, William M. Stuckover was age 42. He had been married / divorced by Nise Anna Lake-Stuckover. They had a son, William Robert Stuckover (b: ABT 1890) and in 1900 was age 10 and was living with Anna's parents Robert H Lake and Catherin H Holmes-Lake.

On March 7, 1941 William was residing at the Shafer Hotel. He was struck and killed by a fast eastbound Big Four freight train at the same crossing where he had at one time served for a number of years as a watchman while employed by the Big Four Railroad.

William survived by a brother Patrick Stuckover, a son William Robert Stuckover, and a sister Maggie [Harbran ?] of Detroit, Michigan.
