Troy, IL--Mrs. Fredericka Spies, wife of Fred Spies, died last Wednesday evening at the Highland hospital, where she had been a patient for 12 days. Her health had been failing since last January.
She was a life-long resident of this vicinity. She was born on December 16, 1883, the daughter of the late George and Wilhelmina (nee Klostermeier) Druessel. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church. On November 9, 1913, she was married to Fred Spies, who survives her. Other survivors are a daughter, Mamie, wife of Ray Giger of Troy; a sister, Mrs. Richard Schmalz, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held last Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran church by Rev. A.C. Meier of Carrolton. Interment was in the Friedens cemetery.
