A native of Giles County, TN, William J. (W.J.) Abernathy, 64, of Huntsville, AL, died Friday, March 13, in the Huntsville Hospital.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Laughlin Funeral Home in Huntsville by the Rev. Mr. Jackson. Burial was in Valhalla Memory Gardens in that city.
Mr. Abernathy was the son of the late Erskine and Annie Abernathy. He was a charter member of the Whitesburg Baptist Church of Huntsville and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Addie Croxton Abernathy; a son, William J. Abernathy Jr., Memphis; a granddaughter, Laura Rebecca Abernathy, Memphis; three sisters, Mrs. Leslie [Katherine] Harris and Mrs. Dorsey {Annie] Crockett, Pulaski and Mrs. Grady [Sara] Green, Texas City, Texas.
