Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. in the Grandfield Lutheran Church near Sheyenne, ND for Christian Olson, 76, son of the late Iver and Martha Olson and resident of the Sheyenne community since 1886, who died on 27 Jul following a lengthy illness. Pastors Don Thorson and Robert Salveson officiated at the Service. Knott Funeral Home of New Rockford was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Lloyd Kindem, Osborne Myhre, Gilbert Neset, Oliver Stensby, Virgil Hanson and Ernest Olson, nephews of the deceased. Honorary pallbearers were Alvin Kennedy, Bernie Ostby, Ole Nyhusmoen, Sr., Fred Lindstrom, Nels Myhre and Gilbert Christenson. Mr. Olson was born near Eleva, WI in Trempealeau County on 31 Dec 1881. He came to ND with his parents in 1886. In 1908 he married Julia Ulness and farmed in Grandfield Township of Eddy County, ND until retiring in 1956 and moving into Sheyenne. Mr. Olson was a member of the Grandfield Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Iland Olson of Grand Forks, ND and Clarence Olson of Seattle, WA and three daughters, Evelyn who was married to Lawrence Simonson, Mildred who was married to Arthie Fingerson and June who was married to Raymond Beuslinch of New Rockford; two brothers, Ingvald Olson and Helmer Olson both of Sheyenne and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Hanson of Oberon, Mrs. Theodore Neset of Sheyenne and Mrs. H. W. Keplar of Winamac, IN, 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
