The son of the late John F. and Edith I. (McCarty) Mishler, he was born Jan. 13, 1904, in Des Moines, Iowa. On Sept. 13, 1921, in Boone, Iowa, he married Clara M. Foster.
An electrician, he operated Mishler Electric for 65 years in Woodstock, retiring in 1981. He was a life member of the National Electrical Inspectors of Chicago and served as treasurer of the National Electrical Contractors Association from 1956 to 1967. He as a 52-year member of the Masonic Lodge 63, a charter member of the Woodstock Woodchuck Campers and an avid camper and fisherman. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Woodstock.
Mr. Mishler is survived by two sons, Dean (Betty) Mishler and Eugene (Mary Lou) Mishler, both of Woodstock; a daughter, Maxine Wright of Auburn, Wash.; nine grandchildren, Robert E. (Char) Mishler of Crystal Lake, Barry (Rita) Mishler of Union, Scott, Mishler and Tom (Sue) Mishler, both of Woodstock, Steven (Paula) Mishler of Marysville, Wash., Sharon (John) Greils of Bensenville, Linda (Bob) Krell of Aubany, Wis., Bill (Donna) Adams of McHenry and Dale Adams of Bensenville; 10 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and a brother, Marion Mishler of Gerald, Mo.
His wife and two brothers, Alvin and Paul Mishler, preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock, with the Masonic service at 7 p.m. The Rev. Barbara Page Kell of First United Methodist Church will officiate the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at the funeral home.
Burial will be in McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
