ELLEN HARE, FORMER TEACHER, DIES AT 89
Miss. Ellen Hare, who for a quarter of a century served as a teacher in Freeborn county rural schools, died at 5:52 PM Monday at Naeve hospital. She was 89, and had been confined to the hospital since she fell and broke a hip last December 17 in the kitchen of the Mrs. Hans Gulbrandson home where she had been living for several years.
Years ago Miss. Hare was an active member of the W.C.T.U. and traveled about the state as a lecturer and dramatic reader. She was also keenly interested in politics, and during recent years had been an ardent "Stassen Booster."
Born August 29, 1859 in Bancroft Township, the daughter of William and Mary Ann Hare, she served as teacher in various rural schools. After she and her parents moved to Albert Lea about 50 years ago, she returned to practical nursing as a source of income.
Miss. Hare never married.
She is survived by four nieces and four nephews. They are Mrs. Eva Frisbie of Yakima, Washington; Mrs. Grace Wilhelm of Arlington, Oregon; Mrs. Mabel Hueterman of Wapato, Washington; Mrs. Gladys Watkins of Bremerton, Washington; J.N. Brown, of Albert Lea; Irvin C. Brown of Mankato but who is now in Newfoundland; Franklin T. Brown of Nampa, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Lloyd A. Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Freeborn funeral home Wednesday afternoon and evening.
