Gene Grace, 64, 2812 Ross St., died Wednesday, July 31, 1985, in a Sioux City, Iowa, hospital after being stricken at Green Valley Golf Course.

Services were held on Saturday in St. Boniface Catholic Church. Members of the Navy Chief Petty Officers (retired) served as Honor Guard. The Rev. James Keefner, OFM, officiated. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City under direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Grace was born May 31, 1921, in Tilden, Nebraska. He married Virginia B. Hall August 8, 1942, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

He served 20 years in the U.S. Navy and retired in 1960, having served in World War 2 and the Korean War.

He came to Sioux City from Sanford, Florida, after his retirement. He then worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and retired in 1981. Mr. Grace was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church where he was an usher and Lay Distributor. He was a member of the Heelan High Crusader Club, the Navy Chief Petty Officers Organization and was Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael Eugene of Des Moines and Mark L. of Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Mrs. Tony (Patricia) Levich of Sioux City and Mrs. James (Kellye V.) Summerfield of Canyon Country, California; four brothers, Jack of Houston, Texas; Dale of Sumner, Washington; Darrell of Fredericksburg, Texas; and Alan of Payette, Idaho; four sisters, Rita Wulfe of San Bernardino, California; Frances Hunt of Omaha; Mary Williams of Exeter, Missouri; and Louann Hurlbut of Lincoln, Nebraska; and five grandchildren.
