Abraham appeared on the 1860 Census living in West Township, Plymouth, Marshall Co., Indiana with his mother Catherine and siblings John (b.1841), Catherine (b.1844), Amanda (b.1846) and David (b.1849), all of them born in Ohio.

During the Civil War, Abraham served with Co D of the 17th Regiment of the Indiana Volunteer Infantry. He mustered in on 25 Oct 1864, and was discharged on 25 May 1865.

Two years later, Abraham married Hannah Poor on 31 Jan 1867 in Marshall Co., Indiana. On 4 Jun 1869, the couple welcomed son Charles "Charley". The three of them appeared together on the 1870 Census, living in Center Township (part of Plymouth), Marshall County, Indiana, where Abraham was working in a saw mill. Living with them was six-month-old Gorgu Koontz.

Tragedy struck on 23 Jul 1877 when Hannah and Abraham's son Charley died at age eight. He was to be the couple's only child. When the 1880 Census was done, Hannah, aged 30, and Abraham, aged 32 were still living in Plymouth. Abraham had left the saw mill and was working as an engineer, likely for the railroad.

With no 1890 Census to work with, I wasn't able to check in on them in that decade, and before the next enumeration in 1900, Abraham died on 18 Sep 1896 at age 54. Hannah appeared without him in 1900, aged 52, living in West Township, Plymouth, with her 74-year-old mother Sarah A. Poor, also widowed.

Sarah died four years later on 11 Jan 1904.
