Born July 1, 1899, in Kansas, he was a son of David and Rosabelle Shepherd Askren.
Surviving are his wife, Beulah; one son, Virgil R. of Winonah, N.J.; three daughters, Mrs. Chester (Zona Mae) Oatman of 417 S. Collett, Mrs. Howard (Virginia) Luse of Shawnee Mission, Kan., and Mrs. James (Ida Belle) Eckert of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, Ernest R. of Frankford, Kan., and Lee of Napa, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Inez Bayse of Whittier, Calif.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles and Sons-Laman Funeral Home, where friends may call after 7 tonight.
