Her parents were Martin L. and Mary R. Harville Greye. Violet was married to Russell Cornett on January 23, 1943 in Liberty.

Survivors include six children: Russell T Cornett, Anna L Hofer, Betty J Proffit, Timothy B. Cornett, Tommy G. Cornett and Velvet J. Uhrig; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers: Martin Luther Greye, Tommy Greye, and Bobby Greye; and three sisters: Lyda Steiner, Betty Huber, and Jewel Conner; one grandchild: Russell T. Cornett, Jr.
