As a child Leonard worked with his parents picking cotton, farming and ranching. He entered the United States Army in 1943 and served in World War II in Normandy, Northern France and Ardennes. For his service, Leonard received an honorable discharge in 1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart, Oak Leaf Cluster, EAME Ribbon with 3 bronze service stars and a Victory Ribbon for World War II.
Leonard was married to Margie (Lutz) McDaniel at Cheyenne, Oklahoma on January 27, 1964. Leonard and Margie were inseparable, working on their wheat and milo farm, as well as their dairy and cow/calf operation. Active in church, they attended the Durham Baptist Church where Leonard served as a deacon. He faithfully read his daily devotions and taught Sunday school in Christian love.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margie; 2 sisters, Dovie Felder and Billie Rae Dollar; 2 brothers, Bobby Lee McDaniel and Jack McDaniel and 1 grandson, Robert Boyd.
He is survived by his 3 children, LouAnn Bonser and husband, Bill, Klamath Falls, OR, Jack Boyd and wife, Kathy, Guymon, OK and Mike Boyd and wife, Penny, Stratford, TX; 5 grandchildren, Becky Dye, Bill Bonser, Jr., Brenda Schwartz, Jackie Francis and Trent Boyd; 9 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Kate McDaniel and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be Friday, November 8, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Durham Community Building officiated by Bro. Darryl Moore and Bro. Ray Smart.
Burial will be at Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, OK under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.

The Selective Service Board of Roger Mills county reports the induction of 26 county men into the armed forces recently. The men are:
