Ben Ashauer, 79, of 414 Buena Vista died Sunday in St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland. He had been a resident of Edwardsville 73 years.
Born September 6, 1888, in St. Jacob, Mr. Ashauer was the son of the late William and Nettie Isenberg. He was married Aug. 31, 1919, to Anna Eilers, who survives.
Mrs. Ashauer is also survived by a brother, William Ashauer of Edwardsville, and a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Milhousen of St. Louis. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Ashauer was affiliated with St. Paul's Church of Christ, Bluff Road. He was a member of World War I Barracks 977, Edwardsville.
Friends may call at Pletcher Funeral Home after 2 p.m. today. Services, to be conducted by the Rev. Donald Crismon, will be held in the funeral home at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Members of World War I Barracks 977 will meet in a group at 7:30 p.m. today at Pletcher Funeral Home. Contributions will be accepted for the St. Paul's Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
Pallbearers were Orville Harris, Albert Winte, Charles Meikamp, John Dierkes, Edward Knecht and Herbert Meyer.
