CROSS, JAMES (SONNY), Was born in Athens, Texas on January 16, 1929, to Ross and Linnie Fike Cross. James passed away at home in Athens, TX on July 17, 2007. He attended Athens schools and later joined the US Navy. After the service he married Pauline Powell on September 3, 1949 and moved to Waco where he attended night school. They moved to Dallas where he was employed with R.C.A. Service Co. and retired after thirty-five years of employment. James lived in Dallas for 51 years and moved back to Athens in 2001. James attended Wesley Methodist Church in Athens. Preceding him in death, parents, Ross W. Cross, Sr. and mother Linnie Cross. Two brothers, Ross W. Cross, Jr. and Robert (Bob) Cross, Five sisters, Lela (Sally) Flagg, Leta Brown, Mary E. (Bettye) Jinright, Margorie (Margie) Register, and Louene Washburn. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Powell Cross and four children, James M. (Mike) Cross of Dallas, Richard D. Cross, Lisa K. Cross of Athens and Rose Marie Cross Clemens and Husband Mike of Highpoint, N.C. Brother, Frank Cross and wife Marilyn, several nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be former R.C.A. Service Co. employees. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at the Cooper Funeral Home in Athens from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The family will also receive friends from 10:00 AM to service time Saturday, services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 21, 2007, at the Restland Abbey Chapel in Dallas with Rev. Rev.
