Beatrice J. Gladden passed away Wednesday evening, October 30, 2013 at Hazel Hawkins Hospital at the age of 91 years. A native of Douglas County, Missouri; Beatrice moved to San Benito County in 1952 by way of New Mexico and Missouri. Beatrice received her Associate of Arts Degree in the Arts from Gavilan College in 1973. Beatrice was employed by the Hollister Cannery, the San Benito County Hospital District; Sears and Roebuck; and lastly she retired from the EDD Office in Hollister. She loved to cook and was famous for her berry pies. Her late sister Martha was famous for her lemon pies and her cookies , and Mary for her bread. She also loved to travel-all the way from California to New York; to Canada, and all states in between. Beatrice was predeceased by her husbands, Ora Johns and Louie Gladden and sons Terry and Dennis. Surviving children are Myrtle Wilson of CA; Warren Johns ( Elizabeth) of MO; Wayland Johns of Idaho; Sandra June Baumgartner (Gary) of Turlock, CA; Wayne Johns of Morgan Hill; and Larry Johns (Liv) of Hollister; her numerous nieces and nephews, grand children, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home on Thursday, November 7th from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at the mortuary at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery
