HUGO A GROHSKOPF

Hugo A. Grohskopf, 91, of 1031 First St. Kiel died Tuesday morning, January 31, 2012 at Pine Haven Christian Home, Sheboygan Falls where he resided the past 3 weeks. He was born November 8, 1920 in the town of Herman, son of the late Herman & Martha (Bruesso) Grohskopf. Hugo attended school in Schwarzwald. On November 22, 1941 he married Irene Henschel at Bethel United Church of Christ in the town of Herman. Irene preceded him in death on February 14, 2003.The couple farmed in the town of Herman until 1965 when they moved to Kiel. Hugo was employed by Bitter Neuman Co. until retirement. He was a former member of St. John UCC, Schwarzwald and currently a member of St. Peters UCC, Kiel.

Both Irene and Hugo were active in many card clubs throughout the years. Hugo remained a passionate card player and cherished the time his family spent challenging him for a winning hand. Another of Hugo's favorites was a freshly grilled brat; he enjoyed both during his last days. We all loved his humor, the twinkle in his eye when he teased and joked. Even when he couldn't join in all the conversations like he used to, he so enjoyed just having everyone there. Hugo continued to host Christmas dinner at High Noon at his Kiel home for every generation.

Survivors include his four sons: David (Claire) Grohskopf, Donald (Patt) Grohskopf, Mark Grohskopf and Michael Grohskopf (special friend, Mary Hall), twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren:, former daughters-in-law, Mary Ann Jordan, Candace Grohskopf, Kathy Grohskopf, close friends and neighbors, Chris & Larry Arenz, (often called Hugo's fifth son), Patti Lorbecki, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, parents, Herman & Martha, stepmother, Erna Zenker-Grohskopf, grandson, David R. Grohskopf, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services for Hugo will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 5, 2012 at St. Peters United Church of Christ, Kiel with Rev. Judine Duerwaechter officiating. Burial will take place in the Kiel City Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Sunday from 12:00 noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name. Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, Kiel is assisting the family.
