McRay Magleby, Sr., former athletic coach and physical education and driver education instructor in South Summit, Ogden and Salt Lake City School Districts, died in Salt Lake City on July 30, 2013. Born in Monroe, Utah to John Ephraim and Jane Adam Warnock Magleby on October 21, 1908. Married Florence Alcea Deming on June 1, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Mr. Magleby attended Snow College where he was active in athletics, graduated from BYU with a BS Degree in physical education and did graduate work at the University of Utah.
He filled an LDS Swiss-German Mission and two Stake Missions. He was a High Priest and a faithful and devoted member of the LDS Church. He served in many capacities at both Stake and Ward Levels. Fulfilling his regular weekly assignment in the Salt Lake Temple gave him much joy and satisfaction.
McRay was a kind and generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Susan Magleby Auer-Lucas; sons, McRay Jr., Tom D. and wife, Elaine; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 2, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, where friends and family may visit from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
