The wife of John Hendrie, one of the pioneer farmers of Alcona county, died at his late residence in Harrisville township Sunday at the age of 64 years 6 months and 11 days. The funeral which was held Tuesday morning from the Catholic church was largely attended by the residents of the county.
Annie Miller Hendrie was born in Lanlasgoshire, Scotland, in 1825, where about 1845 she married John Hendrie who survives her. In 1853 they came to what was then called the highlands of Au Sable, which is now included in this county, and four years later they moved onto the land which for thirty years has been their home. All around them then was a dense and unbroken forest of pines. The deceased was the mother of three children all of whom are married and survive her.
