Dorothy, 96, was born to parents Ida (Bolduc) Zoerb and Alfred Zoerb, in Aitkin, Minnesota. The family later moved to Bismarck, North Dakota, where she graduated from high school and business college. Dot married Peter J. Engel in 1935, they moved to Seattle in 1936, where their three children were born.

In 1968, Dot married David W. Cook, they made their home in New Castle, Washington where they lived until Dave's passing. They enjoyed many years of traveling the U.S. and Europe. Dot retired from Boeing as an executive secretary in the space division. In 1998, she moved to the Silverdale area to be closer to family.

A few of her many talents include: cooking, ballroom dancing, playing the piano, woodcarving, and "hardanger" needlework. An optimist at heart, and a can do attitude served her well. She was a true inspiration. Dot will always be remembered for her spunk, her unconditional love of family, and being "The Belle of the Ball".
Dot is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Hilary and Ambrose Zoerb; nephew, Alan Zoerb; and grandson, Scott Vann.
She is survived by her loving sister, Alice Richmond; son, Donald Engel (Barbara); daughters, Patricia Armstrong, and Janice Heeter (Robert); grandchildren, Dean Vann, Frank Engel, Astrid (Little) Engel, Jeff Deignan, Kelly Deignan, Rebecca (Becky) Diaz and Brandi Christler; great-grandchildren, Frank Engel Jr., Arron Little, Gabrielle and Jonathan Diaz, Ellie Deignan, Rayanne and Deanne Vann, and Brandon Christler; two great-great grandchildren; niece, Lynn (Richmond) Fisher; nephews, Dennis and Ron Zoerb, and Jack Richmond.

Mom, "You Are My Sunshine", I will miss you.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the wonderful people who loved and cared for Mom during her last few years at Emeritus at Montclair Park, Haven Crest in Poulsbo.

A private celebration of life will be at a later date. Internment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Kitsap Co., PO Box 3416 Silverdale, Washington, 98383 or Group Health Hospice Fund at PO Box 34015 Seattle, Washington, 98124.
