Anderson Newspaper Monday August 2, 1971

ELWOOD - Perry Jackson, 84, 420 North Anderson St., and father of James Jackson, local postmaster, died Sunday evening at 6 p.m. at the Mercy Hospital. He had been ill for a few days.

He was born March 2, 1887 in Tipton County, the son of Madison M. and Anna Bagley Jackson. He was married April 15, 1909 to Gertrude Baldwin. She died July 14, 1967. He was
retired tinplate employe and was a member of the East Main St. Christian Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge. He had served three terms as City Councilman and two terms on the Elwood School Board and was currently the city building inspector.

Survivors include the following six children, James Jackson, Elwood; Mrs. Edith Nickner, Lafayette; Robert Jackson, Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Jane Ann Preston and Juanita Jackson, both of Elwood, and John Jackson of Frankton; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Boyer Cornelious of Gary and Mrs. Gladys Stone of Elwood; 25 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

The body is at the Copher and Fesler Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m. today. Funeral rites will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the mortuary with the Rev. Ralph Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Elwood City Cemetery.
