Fairfield Recorder - Jan 1, 1892 edition
Died - Mr. W. F. Ward, a young man well known in this vicinity, died last Thursday morning, Dec. 24, at the residence of his brother in law, Mr. Tom Steen, about eight miles north of Fairfield. Mr. Ward was a son of Mrs. W. S. Ward, and was about 35 years old. He had been in bad health for a year or more and his death was rather unexpected as it was not known that he was critically ill. He died unexpectedly with his family and friends around him, while sitting up in a chair in which he had just had been placed. The deceased was born and raised in a few miles of Fairfield and once did business here. He was a clever and good hearted man, pleasant and accommodating to all. His remains were interred in Fairfield Cemetery on Christmas day.
