From the book "Our Ellenwood Clan" by Nellie Ataline Gard.

No cemetery stones have been found for Joseph or Abigail (Bryant) Ellenwood.

Joseph Ellenwood, born 2-22-1723 baptized on 2-23-1726 at Beverly, was the third child of Ebenezer and Sarah (Tuck) Ellenwood. Joseph married first, date not found, Abagail Lamson, was born 2-12-1723, daughter of Samuel and Abigail (Bryant) Lamson of Reading, Massachusetts; Joseph died in Lyndeborough in 1786 aged about 67 years. His final probate records were dated 6-15-1790. Abigail died early, for Joseph and his second wife Sarah (unknown) had a son Joseph born 10-31-1753. No record of their marriage was found.

Please note - Ellenwood memorials that you posted to the Amherst Town Hall Burying Ground. We have received photo requests and since there are no gravestones for any of them, photo volunteers are going to be spending a lot of time looking for nothing. It seems to me likely that the Ellenwood's are buried here, but there are no gravestones standing at this time or since the 1922 survey. Meanwhile I'm going to mark the requests as impossible.

Joseph Ellenwood (1723-1786) died in Lyndeborough. Here are my notes from his probate records, hope you can find them too. I tried to write the citation in order. I also have a little book called Lyndeborough, New Hampshire Tombstones 1764-1980 by Ann Louise Nichols - unfortunately he is not listed in it either. There were two children of Ezra & Rachel Ellenwood buried at Johnson Corner Cemetery, Lyndeborough, NH (page 107)in Lot 50. Lot 51 is vacant. Do you know who Ezra & Rachel were? I have no idea if Joseph's widow would have brought his body back to Amherst.

Since Joseph's oldest son did not appear at court, the Judge settled the real estate on Joseph's second son, Joseph, ordering him to pay his brother Benj. Tuck [Ellenwood] a sum of money. Joseph was also ordered to pay Daniel Herrick Junr son of Sarah Ellenwood, his brothers Jacob & Daniel, and the heirs of his brother Ebenezer. Since he had purchased the shares of his brothers John & Ruben, the judge made no allowance for them. Dated 4 Jun 1790.
