William R. Goetsch, 65, 834 Charlotte avenue, died at 9 p.m. Sunday in Mercy hospital, shortly after he arrived there. He had been ill eight days.
Mr. Goetsch was born in Davenport April 22, 1883, and attended the city schools. He was employed by the Rock Island Lines 20 years and also worked in the Silvis shops before retiring 12 years ago. He never married.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Clara Soukop, and Miss Alma Goetsch, Davenport, and Mrs. Doris Blackman, Elsinore, Calif., and two nieces, also in California. His parents and a brother, Rudolph, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Runge chapel followed by burial in Fairmount cemetery.
