Found in The State 17 April 1966: Mrs. Robert Edward Lee Freeman Sr., 91, mother of Columbia City Councilman Robert E. L. Freeman, died Saturday in a local nursing home. Mrs. Freeman, the former Minnie Nash, was born in Andersonville, N. C., daughter of the late Reuben Clark and Elizabeth Forrest Nash. She had lived in Columbia most of her life, where she was one of the oldest members of Washington Street Methodist Church; was a member of the Isabel Martin Bible Class and was a member of the Wade Hampton Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, of which she was a past president and for many years served on the Scholarship Committee. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. O'Hear W. Fraser of Walterboro, Mrs. Gilbert Barre of Columbia and Mrs. Margaret Freeman Newell of Pasadena, Texas; a son, Robert E. L. Freeman, Columbia; a sister, Mrs. O. G. Donny Sr., Columbia and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Washington Street Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. C. LeGrande Moody Jr. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the residence of Mrs. Gilbert Barre, 6311 Westshore Road, and the Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel.
